Summary

The goal of this project was to design a one-arm keyboard for a client with Ehlers Danlos syndrome, which makes it hard to manipulate a computer mouse and press certain keys due to weakened connective tissues and blood. Our keyboard has a joystick for cursor control, ergonomic design, a slanted shape for a natural resting position, and staggered keys for easier access. The keyboard requires less force to use and has an arm rest to minimize muscle strain. To improve the design, we would conduct safety trials with test subjects and use higher quality materials for the palm rest and keys. Additionally, we would manufacture a custom PCB and use a more precise 3D print material.
